In November 2025, SAOS conducted comprehensive and independent market research at Thainstone, speaking with members, farmers, customers and visitors to understand what the North-east wants from its Thainstone Centre.
Across these groups, the findings pointed in the same direction: maintaining agricultural and commercial auctions at its heart, alongside a genuine appetite for regular markets, permanent local producer units, rural retail and food offerings.
The North-east has told us what it wants – Thainstone to be it’s business and community hub for the future.
From our roots as a member-owned co-operative to the creation of Thainstone Centre, ANM has always evolved around one purpose: helping people, businesses and communities across the North-east trade, connect and prosper.
The next chapter is no different.
From 2026, the Thainstone Vision sets out a ten-year plan to regenerate, modernise and futureproof the site for the next generation of members, customers, businesses and communities.
We’re investing in the infrastructure, services and spaces that will allow Thainstone to continue playing a vital role in the region’s economy for decades to come.
